Life is made up of different journeys, and each stage brings unique memories, experiences, and lessons. Looking back, my elementary school years were some of the most meaningful and exciting moments of my childhood. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for sports, developed important habits in academics, and began building the confidence and discipline that continue to shape me today.
Discovering My Love for Sports
From a very young age, I was always an energetic and active kid who loved movement, competition, and challenges. Sports quickly became an important part of my life and childhood.
When I was 5 years old, I started swimming, and it soon became one of my favorite activities. I still remember those long summer afternoons in the pool, enjoying the feeling of freedom and excitement while constantly pushing myself to improve. Over time, I learned different swimming styles including freestyle, breaststroke, and butterfly, while also developing discipline, endurance, and confidence through training.
Basketball was another sport that became a huge passion of mine. At the age of 6, I began training seriously and was eventually selected for a youth talent team. Some of my happiest childhood memories were created on the basketball court — practicing with teammates, competing in games, and simply enjoying every moment of the sport. My love for basketball extended beyond playing; I became deeply interested in the game itself and even memorized the names of nearly 100 NBA players because I genuinely enjoyed learning about basketball and its athletes.
I also spent time playing soccer as a defender. Being part of a team taught me important lessons about communication, teamwork, responsibility, and leadership. Every match gave me opportunities to support my teammates, stay focused under pressure, and improve my competitive mindset.
Beginning My Tennis Journey
Among all the sports I explored, tennis gradually became one of the most important parts of my life. Inspired by my parents’ love for the sport, I started playing tennis at the age of 5 and quickly developed a strong connection with the game.
Tennis taught me much more than athletic skills. Because it is an individual sport, I learned how to become more independent, disciplined, and mentally strong. There were moments when training felt difficult or lonely, especially during challenging practices and competitions, but these experiences helped me develop resilience and perseverance.
I was also fortunate to receive continuous support from Coach Hảo, who encouraged me and created opportunities for me to train and compete with players from different clubs. Through these experiences, I improved my technical skills, strengthened my competitive spirit, and learned how to stay confident during both victories and setbacks.
Academic Life and Personal Growth
Alongside sports, academics were always an important part of my elementary school years. I tried to be a hardworking and responsible student who balanced school with athletic training.
Homework, projects, exams, and classroom activities became valuable learning experiences that helped me develop discipline and time-management skills from a young age. Of course, like many kids, I was not perfect. There were times when I talked and joked with classmates during lessons, moments when teachers reminded me to focus more, and even days when I tried convincing my mom to let me skip tennis practice.
Looking back now, those small moments are some of the memories that made my childhood so meaningful and unforgettable. They helped me grow not only academically, but also emotionally and socially.
Family, Support, and Childhood Memories
One of the greatest blessings during my elementary school years was the constant support from my family. My parents always encouraged me to pursue my interests, work hard, and become the best version of myself both in academics and sports.
Their encouragement gave me the confidence to continue exploring new challenges and opportunities. Whether it was driving me to training sessions, supporting me during competitions, or motivating me through difficult moments, my family played a huge role in shaping my childhood experiences and personal growth.
Looking Back and Moving Forward
My elementary school journey was truly a colorful and meaningful adventure. From swimming sessions and basketball practices to soccer matches, tennis training, school projects, and childhood friendships, every experience helped shape me into the person I am today — energetic, curious, disciplined, and determined to keep improving.
More importantly, these years taught me valuable lessons about hard work, resilience, teamwork, responsibility, and passion. They built the foundation that continues to guide me both in sports and in life.
As I continue growing and pursuing bigger goals in the future, I will always be grateful for the experiences and lessons that began during these unforgettable elementary school years.
And to everyone reading this — enjoy every stage of your journey, work hard, and make every moment meaningful, because childhood only comes once.
